What is the best way to color match one piece of footage with another piece of footage? I'm assuming that I'll be using the Sony Color Corrector, no? Should I somehow use the drop tool? Thanks.

Don Bloom July 31st, 2007, 06:53 AM Glenn Chan has some really great stuff on color correction but the short of it is FIRST-NEVER use the computer monitor to do it (if you can at all avoid it) Use a production monitor or even a TV thru a FW pass thru-you'll see a difference. SECOND- use the Waveform and Vectorscope to help you -they're not as complicated as we all think THIRD-find the area you want to match to -copy it to the CLIPBOARD (icon over the preview screen) and then place the cursor over the area you want to correct-split the screen and use the CC FX and start playing with the wheels-don't worry - you can always go back to the original. Remember, one of the droppers will get you a complitmentary color and the other the color opposite. Play play play-you can't hurt anything-gamma, gain, saturation may all be a part or the equation but then again it might be just a simple straightforward adjustment of 1 color wheel.
