Hi There,
I've got strange problems to render effects with my AVID 4.8 when I work with 16:9 50i SD PAL Material.
Normally I use my system to edit SD 4:3 - no problems so far. But when testing the 16:9 workflow for a new project, hardly any effect apart from color correction could be applied. Just some effects (like the sawtooth transition) are visible, but in a strange, distorted way - as if the takes to be dissolved were interpolated / the picture format was wrong.
My first thought was of course, that may NLE was faulty somehow, and I tried again on a completely different (xpress Pro 4.5) workstation - same result!
It came to my mind that...
a) I failed to change some settings in AVID.
b) the problem has to do with my camera - a CANON XH A1. It has a 'real 16:9' chip, and my -probably naive- assumption is, that it produces a different kind of 16:9 signal, that 'good old AVIDXpress' can't handle.
Please help! Does anyone have an idea?
I know, my mobile NLE is not the newest one, but worked fine for 4:3 SD PAL so far:
BenQ Joybook 8100 with
Centrino 1,6 GHZ
1G Ram
40G store (int)
300G store (ext)
AVID Xpress 4.8
Ati mobility radeon 9600 (new drivers)
