Any Released Film Theatrically with 35mm adapter?
Hi...
I'm in process of making a feature that will be released theatrically, using HVX200. I just want to know is there any other film released theatrically using 35mm adapter (sgpro, m2, mini35 P+S, etc) than Danny Boyle's 28 DAYS LATER? I've heard that it will soften the image as the date is being printed on film. If so, by using a heavy Digital Intermediate, will it help the from causing more degraded image. Any opinion or suitable workflow? |

There is suppose to be a film coming to the big screen this summer...
The trailer is suppose to be played right before the new Nancy Drew movie... http://www.sarahlandon.com/ Shot with the HVX/M2 combo... you can go to the M2 site and the dp talks about the process... |

They used an XL1 with the FD to EF adapter which gives the possibility of using EOS lenses. In those adapters light from the lens doesn't pass through a ground glass to create a 35mm illusion so they're not 35mm adapters.
They added a mattebox, of course. Nowadays people tend to use experimental digital HD cinema cams before using 35mm adapters but there's another thread here talking about 4 movies for the UK TV using Sony XDCAM EX and Brevis. Those cams are not HVXs of course... |
Farishad, you might want to search in imdb.com (using technical section). I found a bunch of movies were made using mini35 and some using Redrock M2. And actually one movie is using Brevis, which is 'Heart of Now', will be released in 2008. But whether they're transfered to film or not, I'm not sure...

Not quite even that. They simply used an Optex adapter and put a Canon EC and EJ lenses on it. Just goes to show that some people still think that story is more important than picture quality. ;) |
