A Few Letus Questions...
Hi,
I'm deeply considering buying one of these but had a few questions first. I have a vx2100, if I were to get the standard $300 Letus would the image be upside-down after attaching a 35mm lens on the end? (Which would, I assume, be fixed with one of those cheesey on-camera effects to reverse it?) Also, if I were to attach a heavy 35mm lens on the end of it, would it require support/is there a support that can be purchased with it? Lastly, by choosing either the canon or nikon lens fits, can the Letus be used with any Canon/Nikon lens respectively? Thanks in advance, -AP. |
the unflipped letus is small and light enough to not require support. I believe the magnet flip trick works with your lcd for the vx. you would have to flip in post

if you have a really long lens thats too heavy you can look at something like this that cheaper than the standard 15mm rod support

Ah, thanks Andrew for the responses.
I have a few 35mm telephoto lenses (which im sure wont be compatible with the Letus) and they're quite heavy, so I'd imagine I'd have to get something like that. I guess I'll pick up a few used lenses and play around with them. Can anyone confirm that the video with the standard Letus will appear upright (correctly) on the LCD screen. I can't see myself framing an upside down shot. I read that any Nikon lens will fit with the Nikon Letus adaptor, is this correct? If so this makes more sense to get (since I don't have to get them from a particular series like the Canon.) EDIT: What does GG stand for? And is the extra $400 dollars justified in the flipped Letus? Thanks again! -AP |
your image if you get the unflipped version will be : upside down
you can use a magnet i believe to trick your camera into flipping the lcd image search the board to find out how. all nikon mounts are the same gg= ground glass.. the focal plane within the adapter. The 35mm image is projected onto this glass,... your camera records whats on the gg. 400 extra dollars... ive owned the original $300 letus, letus35xl and letus35xl ver.2 i think its worth the extra money for the flip.. but thats up to you.. |
where are u in canada?

Right downtown toronto (university of toronto residence.)
I've been to Newfoundland before :) And thank you very much for the letus info, although I'm leaning towards the sgpro because of the letus' light loss. |
