http://media.putfile.com/Modified-Letus35- Camera- VX2000 35mm Adapter- Letus35. condensor removed, gg replaced with POC 20 35mm lens- Super Takumar 50mm f1.4 Software- FCP, Nattress Film Effects It's been a really long time since I shared a video, so I thought I'd give it a try. I'm currently working on a new adapter, but still having fun using the letus. hot spot- yes grain and noise- yes but not becuase of the letus design, I changed the gg to have better bokeh, but got more noticeable grain, and I removed the condensor and got a hot spot, but hey, its artsy... |
looks very good to me, resembles 35mm film apart from the hotspot
what is poc20? can you tell me where i could get some, as im building an adapter. |
That was really nice, very filmic, the grain actually adds to the feel. Nice scenery is that in pittsburgh?

POC20 gives awesome bokeh but I couldn't hide the grain with an oscillator either, it would be my choice of diffuser but you'd have to spin it. Why didn't you put the condenser in as well? The hotspot wasn't as bad as I was expecting. The closest I can get to POC20 is a 40 micron GG (about 350-400 grit?) for an oscillator without grain. The grain is *nearly* invisible (it's there if you look for it) and the bokeh is nearly as good as the poc20, light loss is about the same at around 1.5 stops for the adapter including 1.4 lens.

I removed the condensor because I figured the less I put between the diffuser and the lens, the better. But thats just my theory. I "nearly" eliminated the grain of the POC 20 by changing my battery pack to a four AA pack from radio shack. Its noise is picked up by the internal mic. Not a problem if you are recording with a shotgun on a boom, but for run-and-gun, audio would be a problem. When I wrote "POC 20" I was referring this diffuser http://www.poc.com/lsd/default.asp?p...&sub=lsdsheets part # LSD20PC10 hope that helps |
thanks for that

When you change to a 4 battery pack, is there anything that needs to be adjusted electrically or is it just a case of reconnecting the wires to the battery pack?
Oh, and by the way, I watched the video and I dont see the hotspot that you guys are talking about. Where is it? |
the slight vignetting

Just reconnect the wires. |
You can "fix" the grain and vignetting, you know.
|
So the hotspot you guys are referring to is the vignetting? I thought you guys meant overexposure and I was wondering it's not that bad, lol
