GS500 / GS300? What is going on?

I thought the panasonic brand was the GS150, GS250, GS400 - now I see all these other numbers popping up like the GS500 and the GS300. What is going on? Are they comparable to the others?

I saw a review that says the PV-GS300 and 500 is an upgrade, but I am having a hard time finding the GS400. Has anyone seen it at a good price?

The GS500 is indeed an upgrade of the gs400, but many people prefer that last one because it has more manual controls, so it's best indeed to maybe look out for a gs400. You could put a demand in our Private Classifieds boards, maybe?

Don't know the 300-model...

I read some complaints about the new ones lacking some features compared to the old ones. Anyway, checkout this page

So the challenge is to find one gs400 before they are gone, huh? I looked at BHphoto and they don't seem to carry it anymore...
Has the price gone down on these?

No, the current price for used GS400's is higher than they were when new (!)

The compact size is nice but for the money I'd buy a used DVX100A. I love the way my family and travel stuff looks in 24PA, and even aside from that, the color and controls are awesome.

I agree on that account, but it is about $1500 more for the DVX, so therein lies the problem. I was hoping to pick up a GS400 for $1500, but getting the DVX is about $3000.00+ unless I am mistaken...

Actually, looking at completed auctions on ebay, used DVX100A's are $500-1000 more. But even that is more than I thought, though, because a year ago the market on used DVX's was a bit softer(!). I saw some very low hours ones go for $1500-1800 on DVXuser. I got mine with a Pelican case, 2 extra 5400mAh batteries, a Hoodman, an external ND, and a Hoodman (love it) for only $2200, with low hours.

I then proceeded to spend at least that much on shallow-DOF-adapter parts and lenses, LOL
