Angenieux 20-120 T.2,9
Hello everybody,
anyone has great infos on these beasts? I'm thinking to buy one for my XL H1 with mini35. Have read they are softer than Cooke 20-100 T3,1, but will be noticeable a great difference between them using with the Mini35 system? (Cooke costs double or more..) Thanks in advance Asa |
Hello Asa,
This lens was designed a long time ago, before the full frame was a standard. It may work for a limited part of the zoom range but I expect it will vignette somewhere at wide angle. My experience with similar lenses is they loose a noticeable amount of light toward the long end so it may be much slower than T2.9 at telephoto. My advise, test it carefully before you buy. |
Your talking about used or new?? the angie is HP or HR model I think. one is a lot newer generation that the other. You will see the differance in the blacks when your zooming, bad glass bounces light around within the barrel. and that produces week blacks. Mini adapter covers standard 35mm frame not super35 correct?? ZGC is correct that some older lenes don't cover correctly. the other issue if buying used would be does it track down the middle when you zoom?? put T mark on the wall and see if it drifts left or right. Does it breath when you roll focus?? Does it feel smooth when you zoom or focus?? is the coating at both ends good?? doesn't ZGC own Cooke?? and sell the adapter?? should be a discount for that ;)

Don't plan on shooting handheld with that thing... Unless you're Mr. T ;)
