First shots with new adapter!

We are now finally finished with our spinning GG adapter. Some small adjustemts are needed, but we are very happy about the result! We are using a panasonic GS120 (3 chip) camrecorder. We lost a lot of fstops so we used a lot of light in this shot! More pictures of the adapter are coming later, but here is the shot:

We're glad for all replies, and hopefully you guys can help us become better!

that was awesome!

looked like those 70s 80s 35mm films

cool look

Rune Hals October 17th, 2005 05:00 PM

thanks! it's true, it looks a bit old! i think it's because the gg is a bit too much gritted.

Wayne Kinney October 17th, 2005 05:05 PM

Rune,
What are you using as your GG disk, and how are you spinning it?

Thanks,
Wayne.

Rune Hals October 17th, 2005 05:06 PM

Wayne,
I must admit, I cheated! I found a gritted cd in the bottom of a cd spindle i had! I don't have the name of the spindle type but I can come back to it.

the cd is spinning with a cd player motor (diskman) with two 1,5V batteries.

interesting look there, very reminiscent to the original Agus35 shots of himself smoking the cigarette. Could be just the look your after, depending on your project.

Keep it up.

Wayne.

Wayne,
It's a long time since I saw that Agus35 shot, but you might be right. do you know where i can find that shot with him smoking?

Ben Gurvich October 17th, 2005 06:47 PM

Ive got a copy of it Rune, I was so impressed i made a folder and kept all the initial agus stuff. I still reckon the grain on those looks cooler than all the stuff now with no grain.

I will ftp it for you if you give me an address.

Cheers,
Ben

ps
Agus where are you? Also what is your opinion on everyone ca$hing in on your idea

Wayne Kinney October 18th, 2005 03:17 AM

Agus lives. the Daddy of the 35mm adapter.
I talk to him on msn daily. Infact, i offered to send him an SG35 unit with no charge to say thankyou. He only wanted the GG and mechanism though. He doesnt come about much here anymore as he is very busy with projects.

Does anybody have any footage of someone breathing and speaking through a hole in their larynx after throat/lung cancer, shot on a 35mm adapter?

Don't be like that dude. We don't need this to turn into one of "those" message boards. Just keep it to yourself.

Spoken like a true smoker! ;-)

Michael, it was a reference to how so many test shots with 35mm adapters, are of people smoking cigarettes. Those who have been lurking since the days of the Agus35 I am sure got the joke.

i was one of those agus lurkers and i didn't get it at first either... and with one of my first 35 tests being a guy smoking, i'm guilty too!

btw, in film school, almost everyone's first few projects had a smoking scene. i actually worked really hard to try and exclude smoking scenes in my projects. it's funny, now that i think of it.
