I have just recently been reading up on these 35mm adapters and they sound great!

My question is this...

I have a Sony VX2000. I am thinking about renting one of these to try it out, but before I do, can anyone tell me if it is wise to attach one of these puppies on the VX? Anyone have any experience with this? Most of what I've heard has been related to the Canon XL1s.

Lets say I want the whole setup for my VX2000. How much is this adapter going to cost me?

I don't think P+S Technik has one for the Sony VX2000. There is a smaller, older version for the Sony PC7 but I haven't heard much about it. The XL1 model is about $8000, and I think the PC7 version is around $5000 or $6000. Hope this helps,

Yea Im kind of confused here. One site doesnt mention support for the VX2000, but this one here does

Must be new, haven't heard of this, so I imagine we'll hear more about it soon.

Grain, Film Transfer, and Mini35
 

How does footage from the mini35 look after it has been transfered to film. Too much grain? It there a way to use the Mini35 without the grain feature if you are going to do a transfer? Does this make any sense?

The "grain feature" can be turned off... and I'm not sure yet whether most users of this adapter are going for final output on video or transfer to 35mm film. I'll try to find out from P+S Technik.

I'm not sure what you guys are referring to regarding a grain feature. The system uses a ground glass to focus the image from the lens, similar to the ground glasses used in optical viewfinding systems. The camera then rephotographs the image off the ground glass, which has a slight texture to it--this gives the image a "grainy" look which can be minimized by activating a motor that spins the ground glass to break up the fixed pattern.

I would be fascinated to see images from this system transferred to film and projected. The footage I have seen on video is very impressive.

Having just returned from seeing "Ivans XTC", an amazing film that was one of the first productions shot with the Sony 24P camera, I am reminded once again that Sony cameras don't seem to capture skin tones as nicely as the XL1.

I was very taken with the PS adapter and film lens combo that
came into our video studio. I have requested that I get some
of the video produced from both the 35mm film lens zeiss/PS Technik/XL1s combo and the Arri SR 16mm film camera that did this talking heads shoot.


If they ever actually get it to me, I will try and post some comparisions
for you guys. The crew is due back in August, so the video may
not be around for a couple of months. When they return, I will try and
get the exact make and model of that lens they had hooked up to the PS.
