Rails / Rods for Letus Extreme?
 

Does anyone know of a better set up than the Cavision 10" rods... (http://www.cavision.com/rods/minidvQR.htm)

Possibly the Indi Rails (http://www.indifocus.com/order2.html)?

Is 10" long enough?

I am open to any input or advice... I just ordered the Letus Extreme today for my A1..

Better than the Cavision rail mount would be the Zacuto base plate,
or the Hyson Films base plate.

I mount my XH-A1 on a Hyson base plate with 24" long rails.
With a Brevis 35, Zeiss lens, follow focus, matte box, rail support for Marshall monitor and such, it's just long enough.

Lol... Geeeezzzzz... 24".... I like the Hyson Films base plate and rails... I had never seen those before...

I like what I am seeing though... I am curious if there isn't any vertical elivation that may be required for the Letus Extreme...? Perhaps Steven knows...

I would love to see a picture of your set up...

I keep a set of 12" rails on the camera, and mount the longer ones as needed.
I store the longer rails in a Guide Series breakdown shotgun case I picked up at a sporting goods store.

I asked the guys at indifocus about the extreme.....

I’m getting the Letus Extreme 35mm adapter and I need rods and followfocus – will your setup cope with the different levels of the extreme?

- length of unit: ~135mm (depending on stepdown rings)
- F/R vertical offset: 44mm





It should...as they just started shipping I'd like to mate up our rails with it. If any changes need to be made, they'd be free of charge to ensure the indiRAILS work. Does it ship with a support adaptor to attach the unit to the rods? If not, we have one available for $25.
Also, the indiFOCUSgear and standard indiFOCUS is being upgraded to the indiFOCUSpro. Reduced backlash gearbox, new knob with industry standard whip attachments. There is an optional lighted knob available. Same price for the indiFOCUSpro as the indiFOCUSgear, $389.

I know that Letus is looking at their own but I'm not sure of the timeline - we'll need something

I was also looking at the Cinevate rails (http://www.cinevate.com/catalog/prod...roducts_id=64)... Not sure how high the mount needs to be able to go....

Shotgun case...? Until I saw the picture I was visualizing in my head what a joy it would be to get through airport security with a shotgun case and rods inside the case....

It was low cost, and It didn't need to be water proof.
You can always put the rods in the case with your camera.
But just be aware, that if you have rods that are 24" long,
the interior of the case will need to be at least 24" long.
