rode nt-3 outside
i have an outdoor interview and the shotgun mic is busted. if i use a rode nt-3 on a short mic pole with a windscreen, will i get any usable audio or is the nt-3 just not useful at all outdoors?

Not replying based on direct experience with it but I'd suspect it'll be fine if you're careful. Two issues to deal with - I understand it's quite sensitive to wind currents so good windscreening and staying in the lee side of buildings etc if possible will be something to keep on top of, and it's pretty heavy hanging out there on the end of a pole so take pity on your boom op and put it on a mic stand with a boom arm if possible.

find a well protected spot (from wind and noise) use a windmuff and monitor your recording and it should be good. The Nt3 is an amazing mic but quite sensitive. Do some test with the mic att on.

The A81WS Large Foam Windscreen is a decent inexpensive option for the NT3. Make sure to pull it over the on/off switch, that area seems to create a lot of wind noise. It's a very snug fit.
