Definitely a mild compressor before limiting is a good idea. I mentioned that above. So there's a nice curve, instead of just a dead stop at the brick wall, or an overload into clipping.

Wow, I recall having a similar discussion about video, that 4:1:1 may have a "cleaner signal" than betacam sp but not necessarily better because the video noise in betacam sp is could be considered "accurate noise" as well.

For those using compressors, can you recommend one that's small and battery operated? That would have really helped on a shoot we did over the weekend.
