Swear bleep!
Of all the things I didn't expect to run up against a brick wall with, I didn't expect it to be this!
Does anyone know where I can download a good swear bleep sound? |
I always just use a few frames of standard tone.
|
It's built into Adobe Premiere. But if you want it, I think it's a 1Khz tone or 500Hz tone.

Simon! Good to see you elsewhere than BRoll.
I just cut the audio out of the timeline, most of the time the message gets through. Or a few frames of tone. In a pinch, have someone say a fill in word or "bleep" |
With Pro-tools, I select the offensive word and then apply reverse, for a fun effect. Or, just silence the nasty.

Here's the (Bleep'en, Bleep ,Bleep) tone you wanted. :-) (Very Large Grin)
It is 10 seconds of 1k tone. I had to Zip it as I could not upload a wav file. Enjoy, Bill |
As Hannibal Smith would say, Nice Murdoch, nice! :-D
|
On TV nowadays I see more creative "beeps" being used, such as the cutting/scratching of a record (i.e. in music videos) and other creative sounds.
That's another idea. |

If I had anything to do with it, I would go with some alternative to obscure it. Both the tone and the typical volume are annoying, I think that sound is often more offensive than what it is covering.

I don't agree...sometimes the bleep is funnyier than the cussword would have been...there was an episode in the first season of Arrested Development where Buster was yelling about his mother...the beep went on for 30 seconds or so and you were filling in with your own mind and it worked much better than not having the beep...I think it can be used as a comedic device much more than the actual words

I don’t find the tone objectionable and find the extended bleeps funny as well.
I have heard a ships fog horn used for those “really” bad words and found that quite comical. I think you need to assess the environment you are working in and then choose the appropriate substantiate. Bill |
The problem I have is that generally the tone sounds a lot louder to me than the spoken word that it replaces.
