Hiding two mic wires
I have an audio setup that I use for lectures and weddings where I use two Tascam DR10CS recorders with two lavs. This has worked very well because the recorders are tiny, I can place each mic in two different locations, and then while editing I've got lots of options. However, I also now have two wires to hide :|
Does anyone have a practical solution as to how I can temporarily merge the two wires together so that they look like just one wire? When I mic the subject I've got two wires hanging off of the recorders and it's far from ideal. I would like to be able to easily combine the wires and then "un-combine" them after the shoot is over. Any ideas other than a lot of gaff tape?? |
Re: Hiding two mic wires
Electrical tape is better suited to this than gaff tape. Just put a wrap of tape around the cables every foot or so. Unless the cables have really poor memory they should stay together.
For a more permanent solution, I love expandable braided sleeving, aka Tech Flex. You can expand it out to fit around the connector or mic end (whichever is smaller) then pull it tight once they're both inside. It comes in tons of colors so you can have it blend in. |
Re: Hiding two mic wires
Perhaps spiral wrap cable wrap, mitigates the issue of connectors at the ends e.g., https://www.anixter.com/en_us/produc...FYdEhgodymwD5A.
Not sure what sizes are available though, and I've not used it recently. |
Re: Hiding two mic wires
I think both the Texh Flex and the spiral wrap both sound like good solutions. Any idea what size I would need for either one?
