Which lav is compatible with Sony UTX-P1 transmitter?
I'm looking to buy a Sony URX-P1/UTX-P1 wireless kit but unsure if there are specific lav mics that are compatible with it. Or does any lav mic with a mini plug work?
Thanks for any advice. Donald Giesen |
Not sure if it's proper to do this but...bump!
Anybody have any experience replacing a lav mic on a wireless system? I've been searching the posts and it seems as if it's not too difficult but I just wanted to be sure. Now I know with the Sony it usually uses a locking mini plug but I'd probably just go with the mini plug and forgo the locking feature. Donald |
I have both a Sennheiser G2 system and a Sony URX-P1/UTX-P1 system and the 3.5mm wiring of the mics ARE different and will NOT work on each other.
Here is some info that might help [Thanks to Countryman mics] Wireless Transmitter Wiring - Countryman Associates, Inc. |
I've got a Sony UTX-B2 transmitter and I found out at the very last minute that the lav mic that comes with it will not work when plugged in to the Zoom H1 recorder. That much I can help you with.
(I suspect that the lav mic that comes with the Sony may need a little extra power to operate.) As for plugging other lav mics (such as those made by Rode) in to the UTX-B2? Don't know that one for myself. Hope this helps somewhat. Andrew |

I think that you would get most lapel mics to operate on transmitter its just a case of getting the wiring correct. |
Thanks
Thanks for the replies.
The link gave some good information about the connectors used although a bit over my head, electrical-wise. I guess wireless systems don't lend themselves to be put together a-la-carte as easily as I thought. Donald |
