Oh and the mic will mostly be used for interviews and dialogue work. I've read a review somewhere that the SGM-2X is great for this kind of work since it has a deep/warm sound to it but I'm just not sure. I havent found any reviews on the AT897 yet so I dont know much about it. Its hard to decide these things, especially since I'm not able to test them myself.

A search of the topic Azden and AT will bring herds of opinion. Basically AT is pro gear and Azden is not. Look at the difference in the specs. Azden doesn't post much of anything that's meaningful.
For the most part you get what you pay for, AT happens to be a very cost effective product. The AT will still be worth most of it's purchase price when the less robust products will be in the trash. http://www.audio-technica.com/using/mphones/guide/index.html http://www.schoeps.de/E/overview-mic-types.html#shotgun |
Bryan, I read the description of the at897 in the link you sent me and I believe it has won my decision. Thanks for replying.
One more question. Say I buy the AT897. Will it work fine with my trv950 with the beachtek adapter? |
You may be able to use it with a $9.50, 1/8 stereo to XLR cable.
I think the audio in the 950 is OK. Any problems that anyone knows about? |
