Hey Spot...re: ECM55
Hey Spot how's the ECM77 compare against the ECM55. I ask because I just got a UWP-C1 Sony wireless sytem and was a bit dissapointed with the airy quality of the included mic. I just ordered the ECM77 to replace the UWP-C1's stock lav mic. Is it a good choice (namely for capturing vows during wedding videography)?

I don't know. On paper it looks great. We did a project where the sound guy had the 77's, but I didn't pay close attention. Obviously they worked or I'd have paid close attention. :-)
The 55 is a great mic, don't get me wrong. I was in love with it til recently. Then I got this 899 from AT. Slightly smaller, has a great kit that it comes with, and is available in skin color too. One of the things I notice with most of the Sony mics is that they seem to have a bumped high end, which is normally not a bad thing. The AT on paper does too, but it sounds smooth. |
When you say bumped high end do you mean they tend to be trebblely?
Which is considered higher-end on the sony line the 55 or the 77? |
Glen,
I'm using a 77 and it compares very well with the Tram 50 and my ECM 50 (precursor to the 55). I'd bet you'll be very happy with it. Also especially nice that it's so small |
Thank you. So it's a "big" upgrade from the included 44 (I think)?
|
Glenn,
YEP, don't use my 44 anymore! |
Wow, it seems like A-T hits a home run with every new product these days. The AT899 lav, the AT 897 short shotgun. How about the new AT898 lav? Anybody try that one yet?
