Wiring a lav mic to my EW500 system
I've just bought a new lav mic - Sanken COS-11s (omni mini electret) which is currently connector-less. I want to wire it to my Sennheiser SK500 transmitter but not entirely sure which connections to use. The pins are labeled as:
SK500 3.5mm stereo jack plug Tip - MIC + Center - LINE + Shield - GND MIC bare wires Shield - GND (obviously!) White - Autio hot (+ I guess???) Black - DC Power It's the DC power line that I'm not sure about - will it work without it? Is this going to work at all? Did I get the wrong mic? Thanks. |
Paul, I wish I had a firm answer for you, but couldn't locate anything in searching the books I've got and looking at the Sanken website didn't help much.
If the sanken is like the 66, then you'd wire: pin-1 = ground to Tip of SK pin-2 = audio hot to center of SK pin-3 = audio cold to Shield of SK Hope this helps.... |
I checked the Countryman Site for wiring diagrams and as far as I can tell, this is how it should be wired.
Shield + Black to "Sleeve" White to "Tip" The ring remains empty Paul I also looked at the PDF of the Sanken at you are correct about the wires. |
ON page 79 of my EW100 manual, the tip is the microphone +, the ring is the Line+ and the Sleeve is ground. This is shown for the SK 100 Transmitter.
So the microphone, at least on the 100 series is tip and sleeve, ignore the ring but do use a stereo plug to avoid shorting in the socket. |
Thanks guys :)
Sanken have just replied to a message I sent - they say that I should connect a 10K resisteor between ring and shield. I'll give that a go :) |
