Rode NTG2 problem
I've picked up a NTG2 and connecting to a XHA1. I bought the mic through B&H and it came with an XLR to 1/8" cable. When I connect the cable through the 1/8" mic port, the onboard mic cancels (as it should) but the Rode does not work. Tried everything. Is this because the Rode has to be hooked through the XLR port and not the mic port.....which means I got hosed on the B&H deal?
Thanks |
Hi Scott
This might be obvious, but you have installed the battery? The XLR's should provide phantom power, where as I believe the 1/8 won't. cheers Gareth |
Hey Gareth,
Yes I have checked the battery as well, just to make sure. The manual suggests that it should work, but then again the manual dosen't seem to have alot of detail there. The tech guy at Canon didn't have a solid answer either. So I was hoping to find someone that uses the same setup. Thanks |
The XLR inputs on an XH series camcorder don't become active until you change a menu setting:
Menu > Audio Setup > XLR Input > On. That's probably why you're not getting a signal. Oops -- I think I misread your post -- try connecting via XLR, that's a better way to go than the 1/8" minijack. |
