Upgrade to Premiere CS3?
 

I currently work HDV with Premiere Pro 2 and AspectHD 5. I have a dual core AMD opteron 280 (just bought a second one), 2 GbRAM (ill add 2 more g), Nvidia Quadro FX1500, windows XP SP2 (and different scratch disks). Mostly edit events and docus.

Now i find it not so easy, some problems previewing (sometimes i push play in the timeline and just freezes there, specially in long clips) and exporting (the heavy "error compiling movie" that drives me crazy)

So, will the update to CS3 solve all the problems?

Or should i swith to Vegas or Avid and start from zero, but sure?

Please some advice from someone happy (or not) with the update.

I've gotten those errors from the very start of Adobe's Ppro. CS3 has seemed to fix these problems or at least limit them...most of the time however it's actually Cineform's problem. I've wanted to switch to Avid or Vegas for a while but never liked trying to get used to a different interface than the one I've been working with for so long.

Btw we have almost the exact same setups. So far, so good with CS3. Give it a try.

A lot of memory issues were dealt with in CS3. Give it a try. I have had no problems I couldn't solve.

There are some files to change out in After Effects, and there is a little thing you have to do to get Flash output. But it all works.

Do you work with CineForm?

PP2 didn't like Cineform much. Grab a handle on a video effect, - crash!

CS3 is happy. (So far)

I'm grumbling about the shortcut problem, but Steven Gotz may have come up with a solution. Will know later.

Did you contact CineForm tech support? I run it as my staple app (Prospect 2K) and it liked CS2 just fine for me...

Yeah, and threaded with David Newman. Kinda ended up with a couple of shrugs. Never-the-less, CS3 works fine so I'm OK.
