Adobe and a book?
I just got Adobe premiere pro 7.0 and while I was at work I stumbled across a book, the book is how to use premiere 6.0 by Douglas Dixon. I was wondering if I bought it will it teach me the basics or is there a huge gap between 6-7. or would I be wasting my money its is originally $30 but with my employee discount I get it for 8 bucks;). Well, I hope someone can answer my question.

There's a pretty big difference apperance wise.

With Premiere (7) Pro, Adobe scrapped what it had so far with 6 and below, and built it from the ground up essentially. So while some things are similar, the majority of it is new.

is there any books or something i should read i am little confused right now but i will catch on

There are some tutorials on the Adobe site. There are also a few videos that show the basics of it. My advice would also be to just play around, it's how I learn. Get a project to edit and try to answer the questions that arise as you go along, be it by playing around or by finding a tutorial. That way, when you're all done you'll know it inside and out!

Premiere Pro is so different from the previous versions that I don't know where to start! I will be getting the Adobe Classroom in a Book for Pro since the one for 6.0 worked so well.

I can read ok but I don't seem to comprehend as much of it as I do when I "see" someone do it or they show me. So I pay more for them but Total Training has DVD's for sale on their site and have anoucned they will putting out one for the Pro version for $249 if memory serves me correct. Sure helped me with 6.0, and I am using them for AE now. Well worth it if I can put them to good use.

i haven't received my copy yet but Adobe premiere pro, classroom in a book just came out and is shipping.
btw, i ordered and received photoshop for NLE'ers and was very disappointed. it seems the book expects you to be an absolute pro with photoshop and it just give general tips about video stuff and some great tutorials you have to print out from the cd, but the tutorials are incomplete in that you have to know photoshop REALLY REALLY well to understand them. matthew |

matthew -->>> I have found this to be true with most of the Adobe Products. I have to go back to AE 5 just to start learning "the basics". You have to know some thing about the product before you can learn about it? Makes that whole chicken and egg thing seem like childs play. |
