final render Question

I was wondering which codec people generally use for the final render, say you want to make a DVD version, and a good but more compressed version of approx 600-700mb for 90mins video, which allows web downloads for the general public.

I read a lot about cineform... but it seems that it requires its specific playback codec, so people will not be able to view your work unless they get it. (Hense bad sollution) So what are people using cineform for..? Is it a way to do midwork renders inbetween programs, say from Premiere to after effects in order to loose the least amount of quality?

Sorry for the stupid questions.. I currently use DivX 6.6 which seems the best choice, but i guess its not.?

So far I have not seen anything that comes even close to Divx when you need such drastic compression.

Cineform is just what you think it is. The codec is available for playback only for free, but CF is not meant to be a delivery format.

DivX , Xvid or H.264 they all used this 3 types on web downloads for the general public.
