Sony's announced plans for Stereo3D in the home (includes PS3!)
It's really too bad they are going with frame sequential active shutter glasses in the Bravia. I could have sworn their protoype at NAB was using the XPOL screen like JVC and Hyundai IT. Ultimately its higher resolution per frame but requires extra hardware.

The real question for me now is what formats the new 3D Bravia will accept for input (side by side, over/under, field sequential, frame sequential, checkerboard.)

The HDMI 1.4 already addresses 3D format. Here is the link: HDMI :: Press Release .

dual-stream 1080p
wow! |
Does anyone know how to author dual-stream Blu-Ray? Are there any Blu-ray players currently on the market that have been updated to support this output? I have a playstation3 and hopefully this will be a simple downloadable firmware update.
Hopefully there will be more news at CEDIA, IBC and the 3D Entertainment Summit in a couple of weeks. I'm only going to be attending the 3D Summit but Sony, Panasonic and JVC will all be there. |
imho its to early for this questions

Yes there are standards to be set... and just remember how many years it took the DVD community to finally settle on a 3D-DVD format! (which didn't happen until 2009 BTW)
I think we'll have a "wild west" situation for 3D Blu-Ray for another two years at least. It's good to be on the bleeding edge though so that content is ready. |
