X-Case Hardshell Case for the XL1

Finally, an appropriate hard case for the Canon XL1 that's reasonably priced. The X-Case was designed specifically for Canon's XL1 Mini-DV camcorder, with room for plenty of accessories. A compact, carry-on-luggage sized case with
heavy-duty telescoping handle, lockable Haliburton-style latches, and built-in replaceable wheels, the X-Case comes with high-density interchangeable foam inserts to hold one or two XL1s with batteries and chargers. The lid is convulted foam with a die-cut pocket to hold the manual or other papers.
The single camera configuration has an accessory compartment with a moveable partition and lid. In this configuration, the X-Case holds a fully assembled XL1 with Lightwave audio accessories, 3 batteries, remote, charger, ac adaptor, a second lens or other accessories, Varizoom lens controller, miniDV tapes, and cables.
The dual camera configuration holds two fully assembled XL1s with Lightwave audio accessories, 4 batteries, 2 chargers, 2 ac adapters, and 1 remote control. The foam inserts are interchangeable - simply it lift out and replace it with the other insert.
The X-Case is made from high-impact polyethylene molded plastic with an aluminum tongue and groove frame. It's strong enough to stand on. It's nondescript and designed to withstand the rigors of location shooting. Exterior dimensions are 21x16x10.5. It's 11.5 pounds empty.
The X-Case is available with the one-camera foam insert in standard black for about $270 (silver case is $20 extra); The dual-camera foam insert is an additional $60. It's vailable from a number of video equipment dealers including ZGC.
