Picture Profiles
Is there any documentation for Picture Profiles Setting that folks seem to like the best?
Just looking for a good place to start. |

Re: Picture Profiles
Chris,
I've collected several profiles from DVInfo and other sources. www.wilcoxvideoproductions.com - /SonyHXR-NX5U/ Check "Picture Profiles.xls" as it has the ones I currently use. Let me know what you think as they still need tweaking.

Re: Picture Profiles
So I tried your profile, thanks... I also tried the four profiles from the Vasst DVD... I like the color i am getting, what I think I want is to boost the blacks and contrast a bit.
How do I just dial in some contrast? |

Re: Picture Profiles
Out of the box the NX5 produces a picture that test card shooters and pixel-peepers will love, but that artists will hate - it's just so insipid and flat.
I run my NX5 with PP1 permanently on, and the only change to PP1 that I make is to have the gamma set to cinematone 2. All other settings as default. This - in combination with a half-stop decrease in exposure (set up your AE shift Assign button 5 to -2) - gives me a beautifully rich picture that I love. Try it and see. Tripod your camera, HDMI it into a good monitor and point it out into the sunshine and shadows. Call in any pair of eyes you like and do some A/B tests with uncomprehending people and see what they think. tom. |
