Re: Canon EF 'Smart adapter'
Anyone know about this product? Or even this site? I've never head of Metabones, and I'm not sure that I trust a site that doesn't list an address or contact phone number. Clicking on their contact button takes you to an email address.
EDIT...just found this. http://www.dpreview.com/news/2012/01...abones_Conurus |

Re: Canon EF 'Smart adapter'
The electronic was made by conurus (a one man show whose conurus site has apparently has been around for 5 years). He used metabones to manufacture his product.
This is not fake, scam, or anything. The guy showed a prototype almost an year ago Canon lens aperture control from Sony NEX camera body - YouTube It just took a long time from that prototype to actual one piece adapter. |

Re: Canon EF 'Smart adapter'
For that price I'd really like the ability to AF, otherwise I may as well stick to using the kit lens and my manual lenses via a dumb converter.

Re: Canon EF 'Smart adapter'
CDAF AF with Canon DSLR lenses would be pretty useless anyway -- much worse than manual focus.
You need SLT type adapter (like Sony's LAEA2) with PDAF AF if you want usable AF on DSLR lenses. |

Re: Canon EF 'Smart adapter'
I wouldn't find it useless at all.

Re: Canon EF 'Smart adapter'
I also bought Canon EOS adapter.
I tested the adapter on my following lenses. Canon EF 85/1.8 and 50/1.4, EF 70-300/4,5-5, 6 DO IS USM Sigma AF 24-70/2, 8 EX DG HSM All lenses worked fine with the adapter. Unfortunately it did not work with Canon EOS 28/1.8 METABONE bought the same objective and is investigating the error. Their sales and support is excellent, as is their delivery works well. I will recomend the company. |

How much is the adapter? I've not been able to see that info.

Re: Canon EF 'Smart adapter'
I saw there were some issues with it working with the 5N and 7N NEX camera, but no issues with the NEX-FS100, so color me impressed. I am curious if OIS works though.
For $400 that's a good deal especially if OIS is functioning. Scott Caplan |
