Protech ST-7, Sony EX-3 and Matte Box?

I have just order a Protech ST-7 to use with my Sony EX-3. I am using the VF Gadgets Reinforced Plate (which will remain on the camera). Now I would love to get a Matte Box on this rig but not sure how?

I’m not too keen hanging the box purely off the lens, so would ideally like to add rods. The question is how? Does anyone have any ideas or a solution?

I was thinking maybe placing the rods between the Reinforced Plate and the ST-7, but not worked out how it could all fit together and still be rock solid.
