Other Lumix models (G3, GF2, GF3)
Hello,
I don't see another forum for the other Lumix models such as the G3, GF2, & GF3. And there are surprisingly few mentions of any of those models on this forum after doing a few searches. The reason I ask is that I am about to buy a GH2, and I am wondering how these less expensive models will work as a 2nd camera alongside a GH2. They are so cheap, I can see having 1 or 2 of these models running on tripods with the GH2 being the main camera. I will be shooting 24p with the GH2, and I see the G3 sensor outputs at 30p, but records at 60i. Does anyone have any thoughts on how footage from the different cameras might edit together? If anyone has any opinions on running these cheap little guys alongside a GH2 please let me know. Or maybe it's just best to grab a 2nd GH2. Thanks, Angelo

This footage does, indeed, look great. I was considering a GH2 but now I'm rethinking.
Is there any place I can find, in one handy chart or table, a comparison of the GH2, G3, GF2 and GF3 side-by-side? All the different models are quite overwhelming to someone like me who is new to DSLR video. Thanks. |

This is the best comparison I could find so far, although it is not very detailed.
LUMIX Line-up Comparison | LUMIX | Digital Camera | Panasonic Global If you click on the specifications for each camera, you can compare the details: DMC-GH2 | PRODUCTS | LUMIX | Digital Camera | Panasonic Global DMC-G3 | PRODUCTS | LUMIX | Digital Camera | Panasonic Global DMC-G2 | PRODUCTS | LUMIX | Digital Camera | Panasonic Global DMC-GF3 | PRODUCTS | LUMIX | Digital Camera | Panasonic Global DMC-GF2 | PRODUCTS | LUMIX | Digital Camera | Panasonic Global

Angelo, thanks. That's fantastic. Man, there's a ton of specs on each individual camera page but I'll plow through them and see if I can figure out which cam meets my needs.

Having occasionally used an Olympus EPL1 as a C-cam with a HVX and GH2, I'd imagine the newer Panasonic m43 cameras should serve just fine in this regard.

Re: Other Lumix models (G3, GF2, GF3)
My main concern - is whether to exchange my new Canon HF-G10 video camera for one of these less expensive Panasonic DSLRs. I know that I will be getting a GH2 in the near future, so it would be great to have a 2nd DSLR to share lenses.
But will they fill the role that the Canon HF-G10 is serving? It is a reliable, tiny, video camera that is decent in low light - and it shoots native 24p. I know that none of these Panasonic models shoot 24p. But I have Magic Bullet Frames - which I haven't tried yet, but is supposed to make interlaced video look like 24p. Any thoughts are appreciated. Will one of these cameras fill the role of a small camcorder like the G10? Angelo
