Zeiss Super Speeds vs Samyang/Rokinon glass
Part 2 of our test is now online: Zeiss Super Speeds vs Samyang/Rokinon glass
In part 2 of our comparison, Felix Patzke of Heimspiel and I, looked at the differences of famous Zeiss cineglass and pretty affordable Samyang (Rokinon/Walimex) cineprimes. As in our first article, we where quite surprised, that the differences are not as huge as we thought. Blackmagic Cinema Camera vs. Red Scarlet ? Zeiss vs. Samyang Part 2 | Frank Glencairn |

The Samyang are amazing lenses. I really don't know how they can pull off that kind of quality for such a budget price. It's a mystery...

Maybe by using cheap labor? Also, it's not made mechanically up to the same standards as Zeiss so it wouldn't last as long.

I'll stick with my collection of big, affordable, vintage brass Zeiss Contax primes. Adapted to any NEX E-Mount camera with a Metabones 'Speed Booster', they are a match made in heaven.

How do they compare WRT to other parameters such as breathing?

Re: Zeiss Super Speeds vs Samyang/Rokinon glass
These used to have their Contex mounts changed to Aaton mounts, so that they could be used on Aaton 16mm film cameras. They matched well with the Zeiss cine lenses, if not quite as sharp as the Super Speed Distagons when wide open.
