Cut Notes / Timecode Notes for iPad
One of those really simple utilities make your editing jobs much smoother. It's a quick way to make notes while you are watching a rough cut or documentary footage. Manual sync to the timecode. Been playing around with it for a week, and it's getting addictive to use.

I'm going to have to take a look at that. I'm finding more and more uses all the time for the ipad while shooting; I use a teleprompter app regularly, as well as a slate app which works wonderfully for syncing audio in post.
I shot an interview a couple of weeks ago with a senior elected official who does a LOT of on camera stuff. He had a statement written out, and was unhappy with the way it came across in the first take. I offered to transcribe it on the ipad and use the teleprompter...He was very impressed; enough so that he immediately got out HIS ipad and downloaded the app. He said that they had stopped renting teleprompters because of the cost, and he didn't like reading from notes because it came across badly. He was quite excited about the app and the ability to once again use a teleprompter without paying a fortune to rent one. I think as filmmakers start to realize the potential of products like the ipad, things are only going to get better. Even though apps like this serve a "niche" market, that "niche" is an awfully large one world-wide, and once you get your app into the iTunes store, you've tapped into a HUGE potential customer base |
