Converting footage from MOV to MP4
Let's say I like to shoot in a MOV wrapper (no folders to deal with, realtime playback in Final Cut, etc..) but I need to work in Adobe Premiere.. is there a way to unwrap the XDCAM stream from MOV and re-wrap in MP4 (I've found Tim's tutorial to do it the other way round) ? Also... I'd actually like to use XDCAM MP4 wrapped as my editing format in Premiere (It's realtime playback unlike Pro-Res) and so the second question is.... Is there a way to convert HDV to XDCAM MP4 wrapped. The funny thing I'm finding out is that premiere plays in realtime XDCAM MP4 and not XDCAM MOV but allows you only to export in XDCAM MOV !

You can change your format to use it on PCs with this
freeware-programm. http://www.mik-digital.de/tool/MP4toMPGv3.exe Install it, select your folder with the videos and after that your destination, (the programm ask you all in German). |

I changed some files with my PC that I could work with them under my mac.
Because the FinalcutPro ignorred 19MegaBitFiles in 720p, I changed it with the mp4to...-programm and the files are detected by FCP. |

Thanks agains.. still.. I work only with Mac... In emergency I bet I can find a PC.. but the point is to develope a correct workflow... It's really a pity that if I want to use Premiere I have to shoot in MP4 and if I want to edit in FC I have to shoot in MOV... on the same platform, with the same camera!

I think if you use the free Perian codec on a Mac, shouldn't Adobe see the movs without any conversion?

Adobe sees the MOV.. no problm in that.. but forsome reason XDCAM plays in realtime inside Adobe Premiere only in the MP4 wrapper. That's why I'd like to convert.. not a real conversion.. just change the wrapper
