A W E S O M E. Loved the the tracking, judicious use of sDof and sfx at the end. When is the behind-the-scenes video coming out?
How'd you shoot that ballerina. Is that the native overcranking in the EX1R? What software did you use to slo-mo it? |

Re: More than just Evergreens
Thanks very much Les -
the one who leaps was shot at Hurricane Ridge on the sidewalk (the really wide shot) with the incredible mountains in the BG, at 60fps 720p, then I brought the shot into MOTION using Optical Flow, set it to 2%, exported that out as 1920x1080 at 24fps! And then I photoshopped the bottom 10% of a still of the shot to erase the sidewalk (hey, TV is all illusions isn't it?), using stamp tool in Photoshop, then matched it up with the original shot using a garbage matte, so the bottom bit of the WS shot is phtotoshopped but everything from her feet upward is real. The very first shot of her was on gravel and grass, just photoshopped the gravel out and stamped in more grassy bits. No behind the scenes as there's nothing to really show, plus no one was on my various shoots to do a behind the scenes anyway. |

Re: More than just Evergreens
Thanks so much for feedback - well I rented a 15 ft dolly on pvc pipe and I think a Glidecam 8ft jib, nothing fancy at all, lower end actually, and of course as usual, I did more than one take on all crane and dolly shots to get it as best I could. The SONY EX1R did a good job and I used ATOMOS NINJA Pro Res HQ codec.

I love it. Just delightful. Judicious use of shallow DoF (as against ridiculous overuse which seems to be the norm right now) and not hammered to death with ‘film look’ look-alike (no pun intended) post products. How totally refreshing! And the way you cut to the dreamy music – masterful indeed. Well done - many thanks for posting.
Waiter; cancel my order for that FS 100. Where’s my EX1? |
