Public beta for CineForm Neo 5.2

These is a new of new capabilities going into the codec core, preparing for some new features coming soon. The changes are significant enough to warrant the bump to 5.2. Please report any issues you find here or with support, and we will turn the fix around quickly.

The release notes of change since the last official release.

Build 5.2.0.277:

Added: HDLink can now generate proxies for other CineForm files, for 2D or 3D work. All metadata transfers so that proxy can be corrected in FirstLight and all the corrections will automatically applied to the master CineForm file. Very cool workflow enhancement.
Added: Decode 422 to 444 filter control to the status viewer (removed from VFW control panel.)
Added: Decode speed option in the status viewer (more convient access than in the Tools folder.)
Added: A swap Left/Right metdata function, for those that mux 3D clips backwards.
Added: CS5 Project triming for MOV CineForm sources.
Added: 3D cameras can now store eye independent color/3d corrections upon capture.
Enhanced: Codec SDK to version 6.7, greatly helping third parties to read/use CineForm metadata.
Enhanced: Installer now tests for a valid QuickTime installation
Enhanced: FirstLight handles being launched twice better by bring to front the first .
Enhanced: Support for MXF sources that have two mono audio tracks, will now output stereo.
Enhanced: NeoHD/Neo4K will now protect more of the Neo3D settings.
Fixed: Support for MXF MPEG2 sources under Windows 7.
Fixed: Crash in Parallax3D filter that occurred on interlaced CS5 sequences.
Fixed: FirstLight loading snapshots with non-gamma 2.2 encoding curves.
Fixed: tools switching off with clips using a large number of keyframes.
Fixed: Invert option in FirstLight.
Fixed: CS5 handling CineForm MOVs greater than 4GB.
Fixed: Colorspace issue converting 3D clips with P-frames.
Fixed: CineForm MOVs audio issues.
Fixed: a crash using Fast 3D, or 3D speed mode in FirstLight.

Reporting on my own bug find.

Testing a Canon XF305 (awesome camera BTW) and I noticed the sample timebase for the timecode is incorrect. It start at the correct TC, but increments at 30 fps, even though I captured at 24p.

Otherwise MXF MPEG2 sources are now working fine, this includes 50Mb/s 4:2:2 MPEG2 from Canon and output from the Convergent Design's NanoFlash.

Anyone have anything to report, even that nothing bad happened? :)

This build tests the machine environment more than any other, testing for a valid QuickTime installs and making sure the needed Microsoft and Intel redistributables are present. While beta testers are typically existing users, who have 99% of these install issues solved, this should greatly help with first time users. It is the first time installation which causes most of our tech support load, fixing that will enable us to support the rest of you better.

Not sure why I want to, but I am trying out the Proxy feature..... cansee it of use on my laptop.

No problems to report as of yet.

oops... spoke to soon. The proxy i generated was from a Canon t21 file I had just converted in this latest version of Cineform. I played with it a bit in FirstLight, putting the warm bleach lut on the file. That was fine. I closed First Light, and made a proxy of the same file. Came out mostly dark. In FirstLight looking at the proxy, I took the LUT off, and I ended up with a green monochrome look...See screen grab attached.

I might need samples that do that, as I can't get the same thing to happen here.

I'm not sure how to get a proxy. Whenever I run HDLink on a (new) Cineform file, HDLink crashes. This happens whether or not the proxy box is checked. How did you get the proxies?

I just found and fixed a crash related to using CineForm source files in HDLink. I didn't think it was common, but it might be for some files. Patch/new beta will be out in a few days.

This is fine, but you get a bit frustrated when you buy the software and you are still waiting (3 days now!!!) for them to send you the registration key :-(
