ATOMOS Samurai LANC work-around.

As I have mentioned before in the ATOMOS Subforum? monster thread, I have been unable to use my LANC controller with the Samurai. Connecting the controller to the Samurai LANC IN and a patch cord from the Samurai LANC OUT will neither trigger the Samurai nor pass the signal through to the camera (Atomos is working on the problem but I don’t know what priority they place on it.) I can put a patch cord from the camera LANC to the Samurai LANC IN and trigger the Samurai by start/stopping the camera manually or with the camera IR remote. This isn’t of much utility for me.

I have now found a way to use the LANC controller with the Samurai. I put a 3/32” stereo Y-adapter (Radio Shack part # 274-948) in the camera LANC and patch cord from one Y branch to the Samurai LANC IN. With the LANC controller in the other Y branch it will trigger both the camera and Samurai. There is a very slight lag but it is brief enough that it is no problem for me. Perhaps this will be useful for others.
