If you've got LPCM audio from a Sony AVCHD cam such as the NX5 and cannot get Cineform to convert the audio, there is a very simple fix. Unfortunately, there have been confusing typos in Cineform's message on how to do this.
Here are the correct steps for Win 7:
a) go to the folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\CineForm"
(b) find and doubleclick on the file "mc_dec_mpa_ds.ax" --- obviously, you do not type the quotation marks.
(c) Windows asks which program to use to open that file. Select "regsvr32.exe." (If you need to browse to find it, this program will be found under C:\Windows\System32.)
You should then see a message saying the file was successfully registered.
LPCM audio should now convert along with the AVCHD video.
