Does the Tascam DR-40 have Line level input?
Hey there,
I'm kicking myself in the face right now. I just discovered that my new Zoom h4n cannot record line level inputs. I discovered this because I wanted to feed a 1 kHz tone from my iPhone into it, and feed the Zoom into my T3i to see what level I could set the T3i to... I only bought the h4n because of a guys comparison on YouTube but now I'm pissed that this matter was left out. So, can anyone confirm for me if the Tascam DR-40 has line level in? |

Re: Does the Tascam DR-40 have Line level input?
The H4n has -10dB unbalanced inputs via the 1/4" part of the combo connector. It could clip though, if one were to input a +4dB (nominal) signal as the max. peak line input level is around +2dBu. ( as I recall)
The DR-40 has +4dB (nominal) balanced line inputs via the XLR and/or 1/4 TRS combo connectors. Mic/line operation is controlled by a switch on the recorder's side panel. The max. peak line input level of the DR40 is +20dBu. It does not have a -10dB input option or 1/8" inputs. |
