Basic Capturing software

Hi

Anyone know of some basic capturing softrware that will capture HD & SD (from an anlogue capture card) and allow the use of any codec on your system, like Sheer video etc?

I know my NLE will do this but I don't want to use a full NLE for field capture.

Thanks

Trevor

Trevor,

I capture directly to disk, in SD, using a firewire to my notebook (with firewire card) and Windows automatically recognizes my camera (XL2) and asks which format I want to use to store the file, wmv or avi. It captures just as good or better than an image that comes from Mini-DV.

I don't know what it would do with HD but I suspect something very similar.
